The Stars are Coming! The Stars are Coming!
2009-06-22 20:13:49 Category : HotIt's becoming a
common sight overseas. In countries like the Philippines, celebrities
run for public office and get elected. Their immense popularity is one
thing. Whether or not they become competent public officials is another
thing.
In the United States, a few personalities entered the political
ring and emerged triumphant. Sonny Bono, half of the 60s singing duo
Sonny and Cher, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in
1994. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the muscle man from Austria who became an
action star for movies like "
Predator", was elected governor of
California in 2003.

Many Hollywood celebrities are wooed to enter politics, but they rather campaign for their chosen candidates. Their hesitance doesn't mean that Americans haven't seen the likes of Bono and Schwarzenegger. Though there are limited custom papers from superior papers that analyzed the pros and cons of entertainers becoming politicians, the American public doesn't seem ready to embrace them. Is it a sign of political maturity on the part of American voters?
Maybe. But don't be surprised that in the distant future, they'll come across a headline that reads, "The Stars are Coming! The Stars are Coming!"
